The San Francisco Police Department has denied The Absolute Truth with Emerald Robinson’s FOIA request for the body-cam footage from all of the officers that responded to the Pelosi’s home last Friday.
In their response, Lt William Toomey cites California Government Code Section 6254(f) for their reasoning. This law does let agencies deny FOIA requests when the Attorney General, Department of Justice, or local law enforcement are investigating.
But the San Francisco Police Department had no issue releasing body-cam footage from previous incidents while their investigation was pending. We know this because it happened earlier this year when their own officers were involved in a shooting. It only took SFPD a little over a week to release the footage regarding the May 2022 shooting.
SFPD’s refusal to release the footage has many people speculating. Especially since the Department of Justice has stepped in and charged the suspect with attempted kidnaping.
