Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan was apprehended by U.S. Marshals following accusations that she hid an undocumented immigrant defendant in her courtroom’s jury room last week to prevent apprehension by an ICE agent.
Dugan faces allegations of shielding Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a Mexican national charged with misdemeanor battery, by conducting his hearing off the record to conceal him from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Journalist Dan O'Donnell reports that Dugan also allegedly hid Flores-Ruiz in the jury room.
Brady McCarron, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service in Washington, D.C., confirmed that Dugan was arrested around 8 a.m. at the Milwaukee County Courthouse and is now in federal custody.
FBI Director Kash Patel issued a statement on the arrest by saying, ""We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest."
